The beach of Madrid
A friend of mine always told me that Madrid is indeed nice, but it definitely lacks a beach, which makes it inferior to “all” other cities in Spain. So what are the Madrileneans doing if temperatures shoot up and the only thing you can think of is a cool bath in the sea?
Well, that is easy. They escape to the Beach of Madrid, the Pantano de San Juan that is located at roughly 60 km from the capital in direction San Martín de Valdeiglesias. Here the Madrileneans not only find their beaches, but also a plethora of other recreation options, including hiking, canoeing, and climbing. Apart of that the artificial lake and the foothills of the Sierra de Oeste are photography top spots.
